IMO WEST SENATORIAL DISTRICT
ASSESSING THE OUTCOME OF THE 4 -DAY FREE MEDICAL MISSION OF RT. HON. JONES ONYERERI .
+ Njoku Macdonald Obinna
Orlu Senatorial Zone , Imo State .
There is a very popular and true saying that ‘ Health is Wealth ‘ . This famous saying refers to the importance attached to health and also reveals our state of hopefulness if we are not healthy enough to pursue our individuals’ day -to -day activities ; aspirations and related endeavours .
The above famous health tit – bit played out last week , when on Tuesday , 11th December , 2018 , the Honourable member representing the largest federal constituency in Nigeria ; a Missionary Parliamentarian and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Imo West Senatorial Zone , Rt. Hon. Jones Onyereriofficially flagged off his 4 – day free medical mission as Africa’s fastest growing medical network , Doctors on the Move in conjunction with University of Nsuka Teaching Hospital , UNTH , relocated to Nkwerre Health Centre for the 4 -day free medical mission which had attendance from across the 12 LGAs in Orlu Senatorial Zone .
By this singular humanitarian act , Rt. Hon. Jones Onyereri has once again , proven that he is a heartbeatsleader who understands the heartbeats of the people who elected him into office to represent their general interests .
Before we write about the attendant result of the 4- day robust , effective and all -engaging free medical mission and the preceding testimonies from the beneficiaries , it is quite instructive to present an overview of the just concluded free medical treatment as carried out by Doctors on the move Africa ; a team of indigenous medical experts , pharmacists , laboratory scientists , nurses , radiologists, optometrists , dentists and medical information | data collectors , etc , who are on community advocacy for healthy living and fitness . A free medical mission as facilitated and holistically funded by Nigeria’s most outstanding National Assembly Committee Chairman ; South East most performing federal lawmaker ; 2018 | 2019 Imo State best federal legislator , Rt. Hon. Jones Onyereri .
As a continent , Africa is continuously working on how to cure major epidemics and illness ; as the cure for cancer as well as HIV has been a domineering topic for scientists even as these epidemics remain perennial while their cure slow -moving .
We may take for granted the wide array of diseases that have emerged as a result of poor nutrition ; lack of physical fitness and exercise ; poor attitude towards routine medical check -ups , etc , which the free medical mission created a window of opportunity to address in our rural areas of catchment centres .
From the light of the above , may I quickly inform the good people of #NkwerreIsuNwangeleNjaba #FederalConstituency nay #OrluSenatorialZone that the Jones Onyereri free medical mission provided the opportunity for the cure of the various degrees of illness like :
Typhoid fever , malaria + , chicken pox , small pox , Apollo , gonorrhea , syphilis , rabies , sars , measles , polio , high blood pressure , etc .
THE TESTIMONIES :
Graciously , a lot of people were medically and miraculously healed and discharged .
The blind received their sight ; those with cases of glaucoma and cataract were provided with effective vaccines ; the short – sighted were given free eye -glasses and drugs to effectively manage their sight ; free antenatal was also provided for all pregnant women in attendance .
Various eye surgeries were successfully carried out as recommended by the Doctor after thorough and cross – medical examination . Free treated mosquito nets , free drugs and other health related materials were provided to all registered attendees as an estimated N30 million was injected into the 4 -day (Tuesday 11th Dec., to Friday , 15th Dec., 2018 ) free medical mission ; by Orlu incoming Senator .
At the request of 4thestatereporters.com for a comprehensive list of the data for all surgeries , the Chief Medical Director of Doctors of on the Move Africa , Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu provided the following data report :
Total Surgeries both minor and major
√ Successful surgeries – 90
√ Eye surgeries – 60
√ Various laboratory investigations : ( FBS, RBS, HIV, HBSAG , HCV , WIDAL , PSA ) – 301
√ Total cards issued | consultations – 2303
√ Total glasses dispensed – 820
√ Total patients seen at eye clinic unit – 859
√ Scanning – 90
PROFESSIONAL ADVICE :
To all those who felt too shy or proud to bring their aged parents in the village for the concluded laudable free medical initiative , it is quite unfortunate .
Your ego has never changed the testimonies that God has put in the lips of many who participated from our federal constituency and across the senatorial zone .
As an eye witness reporter , I can authoritatively assert that the exercise was a huge success, and pray that Rt. Hon. Jones Onyereri sustains it because our people are really sick and are in dire need of this free medical assistance as a good number of them in rural areas cannot afford medical treatment .
