Judgement Day: Tension and uneasy calm over Imo governorship tribunal judgement as analyst highlights reasons why governor Emeka Ihedioha will win again…

IMO GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION PETITIONS TRIBUNAL JUDGEMENT AND THE UNEASY CALM :

13 REASONS IMO PEOPLE VOTED FOR IHEDIOHA AND WILL STILL VOTE FOR HIM

  • Njoku MacDonald Obinna

Owerri , Imo State .

Uneasy calm and tension as a result of the fear of the unknown is usually common amongst political appointees , stakeholders , members and supporters of political parties ; during and after election petitions tribunal as candidates of the various political parties closed their cases for court judgement .

Disputes over electoral outcome are a common feature of electoral politics as nobody can affirmatively say what members of the bench – three or four man panel of judges may decide .

This is saying in retrospect , while citing previous court judgements , that ; the fate of interested parties in a court case lies solely in the hands of the judges who have a way of twisting the jurisprudence of both the legal system and electoral law. Thus , the high level of political scheming , lobbying and exchange of money to get a favourable judgement from Nigerian judges ; who are often times accused of compromise through justice for sale

However , judicial assertiveness , proactive electoral resolutions and the people’s right to decisively elect who to govern them are at the very base of examining the concerns of lmo people using the perceptions of credible Election Observer Mission and Critical Political Analysts to decipher the outcome of every election petitions tribunal ; lmo state in perspective

But , have you asked why the Imo governorship Election Petitions Tribunal which was inaugurated in Owerri as its area of jurisdiction is now relocated to Abuja for final judgement after a rigorous 180 day – time bound allocated for submission of petitions, public hearing , star- eye witnesses , presentation of evidences and defences , etc ?

Are other governorship candidates like; Ugwumba Uche Nwosu , Sen. Hope Uzodinma and Sen. Ifeanyi Ararume , etc , uncomfortable with a possible outcome of the tribunal judgement granted the Owerri Judicial Division is used as the venue ?

Is it because of the safety and security of our learned judges should the outcome of the judgement go the other way ?

Nevertheless , tomorrow , Saturday , 21st September 2019, the long awaited judgement of the Imo Governorship Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja , shall determine who is the authentic winner of the March 9th Guber contest in the state .

While the three leading opposition parties in the state visa viz; the All Progressives Congress (APC) , Action Alliance (AA) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have remained undaunted and unwavering in their failed attempts to pull down the Rebuild Imo Administration under Chief Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC, one thing is sacrosanct . He is the democratically elected governor of lmo State .

The opposition over time , have raised a number of false alarms even when there was absolutely no reasons to cry foul. Anyways , it is expected of those who lost power and their major source of livelihood from government largesse .

You cannot forcefully remove a baby’s mouth from his milk feeding bottle without a cry

Little wonder , the opposition and such other blind critics are often referred to in political parlance as Cry, cry babies .

However , while they have argued that His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha did not meet up the constitutional requirements to be declared the winner of the governorship election as they maintained very strongly that he did not, amongst other unsubstantiated allegations , win the majority votes cast ; as well as scoring at least 25% votes in 75% of the state.

One of the paid media hirelings also alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in the March 9th guber elections , Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha , instead of the 270,000 votes fraudulently allocated to the governor by some corrupt elements within the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) , he actually got less than 150, 000 votes ; leaving him with a deficit of over 40,000 votes , they alleged .

While these accusations , counter -accusations and political meandering shall be properly put in their rightful places by the judges tomorrow in Abuja , let me , for want of time , quickly give 13Cogent Reasons why Imo people voted for Chief Emeka Ihedioha and will still vote for him in a situation where the court calls for a re -run election within a space of 90 days .

His Excellency , Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha is in charge as well as on ground in the 27LGAs of lmo State

The governor had already built bridges across all political divides and has the support and mandate of majority of lmo people

The later part of Owelle Rochas Okorocha ‘s tenure in office was very disastrous as virtually all institutions of government and infrastructures were collapsing under his watch

The choice of his son in-law as his only best bet and possible successor is one of the greatest mistakes that ego -centric and proud lmo people can never accept, and are willing to fight with the last drop of their blood

Granted there is no regrouping amongst members of the APC Coalition group , the initiators and progenitors of this record breaking political mafias in the state would not watch Okorocha rule lmo through proxy

The Rebuild Imo Administration has shown direction in governance granted it is allowed to implement a number of its policy thrusts

Unlike the immediate past government , the Rebuild lmo administration under Emeka Ihedioha engaged proactive minds and professionals in the various designated portfolios

Financial Autonomy to local government councils is one of the remarkable achievements of this administration within a short space of three months and a few days in office while the Rescue Mission Administration was accused of siphoning billions of Naira of allocated local government funds

100 ℅ payment of workers salaries and practical steps taken to pay pension arrears through the concluded biometric revalidation exercise

Emeka Ihedioha , an impeccable character and largely an honest man sees his words and promises to ndi lmo as a covenant while his predecessors were playing politics with lmo people in a number of exaggerated political promises

The institutions of government are now effectively working while respect for the rule of law is restored unlike the previous administration that never respected any court order or rule of law

Chief Emeka Ihedioha is well organised and believes in a functional government system

His well articulated and drafted economic blue print shall bring about structural and infrastructural development when fully implemented

While interested parties in tomorrow’s judgement go into prayers and vigil for a favourable outcome of the court judgement, let me quickly advise ndi lmo not to buy into this frenzy of distracting a democratic elected government as this will not only affect the economic fortunes of the state but also hamper the accelerated development as government’s proposed programs , policies and projects are put on a stand -still .

As Imo critical thinkers and opinion moulders , we believe , while patiently following up on the policy directions of this government that , His Excellency , Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC, is a highly focused astute administrator with the requisite training , experience and human resources to fix lmo state for the good of all and posterity . Granted that this accusation of his government being too elitist is proved wrong to the concerned youth population .
